Picnic areas = free lunch for baboons.

Open and easily accessible  picnic and camping areas are a drawcard for attracting baboons.  Millers Point has long been a point of contention.  Here the Smitswinkel troop have an opportunity to hone their raiding technique and they have become pretty skilled and adept at ‘reading’ situations.  Spend time observing them and one gains an insight into just how good they are at out manoeuvering people.  If the authorities continue to ignore the lack of conservation principle then they must accept the responsibility of baboons becoming more aggressive and people becoming  ‘fair game’.
