I hope the photos convey the illusion of a ‘fleeting’ moment. The first is a young girl’s daring delight at stepping into the fountain near the National Theatre, and the second is a ‘panned’ shot of Luciana Franzolin, a trainer at the London School of Photography. I was lucky to attend a couple of courses there, and one of our assignments was close-up portraiture on the streets. I found it pretty daunting getting into a stranger’s personal space, but once I’d plucked up the courage to ask permission, it was surprising that most people didn’t mind. Getting the panned shot right took at bit of experimenting with the shutter speed and keeping the camera steady.
Very nice shots – love the fountain one.
