This week’s photo challenge has me inspired to try and capture images with a mirror. Must admit i got carried away. I was thinking along the lines of the surreal, based on an occurrence of a magical illusion where the houses on the hillside behind my house appear floating in mid-air through reflections in my front windows. So i experimented using dual reflected images of orchids, wanting to capture a sense of the ethereal – light and floating. Felt a bit like producing a white rabbit out of a hat.
Orchids are one of my favorites!
Thanks for visiting! Aren’t we lucky that there are so many different species …. many to admire.
Beautiful! Orchids are fantastic even as reflections!
Thanks L, Yes, they’re a wonderful design, and as you commented – even reflected!
There’s a seriously real feel of three-dimensionality in that reflected image, Liz. I may have just made up a word, but you know what I mean.
Like that word, Sid! Suits the magic of things that hang suspended in air ….
Awesome shot… finally catching up. 🙂
Thanks, EOF!
I’ve looked and looked, but still don’t really see how you got the shot. But however, it’s gorgeous, and really eye-catching.
Pure trickery! I used two mirrors, at different levels, the shaving mirror was lower and reflecting upwards. I was intrigued by the work of the photographer who set the challenge (can’t recall his name). On his website he has other examples of how he used the 12″ x 12″ mirror. I’ve been meaning to purchase one and play with capturing “hanging” images. I found his shots quite inspiring, figuring out what was at the heart of the image. Clever, but also creative.
