For a while the sea played a major role in my life, it’s colours ingrained in a daily routine. Since returning to live ashore, I’ve gradually learned to let go of hankering for it’s shades of blue. I find now a richness in earth tones, the spell the sun’s rays can cast against the sandstone rocks, or a burnished copper reflected in the veld in the late afternoon. Colours like umber, burnt sienna or ochre reveal ancient codes, of stories written in the stones. A realm that is filled with substance, so different from the ethereal blue world of the seas.

Looks like the first rock is asleep. Like it.
Yes!! Interesting that you picked that up….. many of the rock here have a look of contentment. Thanks for your comments 🙂
very beautiful colors that I like very much too.
It’s a good contrast to the blue horizon and beyond 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Daisy.
Lovely hues, lovely writing!
(Always) a big thank you for the comments Gilly 🙂
Definitely a face in that first rock – and some of my favorite colors as well. Nicely chosen!
Glad you see the face 🙂 These rocks are imbued with character… most have expressions 🙂 Thanks for calling in 🙂
Thanks Tina, glad you spotted the face…
Thanks for the ping.
Nice shots, Liz and what a lovely write-up! Such a unique perspective this is. It’s all about being able to see things that so often go unnoticed.
Thanks for the comments Uday – yes, sometimes its the obscure that kindles a different perspective.
