Wonderful photo, and I guessed immediately they must be hyraxes before I saw your lable. When I was in Africa in 1980 (OMG!) I was told that the rock hyrax is the closest living relative to the elephant! Alison Reply
It’s true! Rock hyrax and dugongs share a common ancestor with elephant in the evolutionary chain, albeit way back. Reply
