I often remind myself how privileged we are to see these birds out in the open. The awe with which foreign visitors view them always serves as a good reminder of that.
Privileged we are! True, it’s good to tap into foreign visitors’ awe. They are entrancing creatures; love their graceful form. It’s extraordinary to have close up encounters too, often I have to stop when cycling or hiking to weigh up ‘right of way’ – can’t get too close and need to keep a beady eye on the protective parents.
Oh, this begs a good caption. 😉
“Psst, Frank, what exactly is that thing she is pointing at us?”
