Shutter speed comes into play here with two shots taken of the restless sea on a rising tide crashing over kelp and rocks. The first “Sea Cauldron” is shot with a fast speed 1/2500 and the effect is of arresting the water in full stride, grasping and clawing the cleaving rocks. 
In the second photo “Sea Skein”, shutter speed of 1/5 , F 36 and ISO 100 produced water which looks as smooth as silk skeins. I think this photo portrays the force of the water – a deluge of cascading power.

These are wonderful – both show the force of the water, but in such different ways!

Like the comparison between the two shutter speeds. Both are unique in their own way. One stops the water in it’s tracks, while the other one shows the flowing nature of water. Nicely done.
