Gathering a morning snack and getting to the succulent part of grass roots requires a bit of dexterity. Baboons have opposable thumbs and strength in their fingers. A good bit of digging and fine pruning does the trick.
It’s always nice to be able to spend time with a troop of baboons that aren’t scared of people but also don’t see you as a source of food. It means you can really immerse yourself in their behaviour, which I find fascinating.
True! Although it would have been another story had it been the weekend and if picnickers were about 🙂 It’s a privileged to get to see them at close quarters – although we still keep our distance.
Such concentration on her face!
🙂 don’t they just live for the moment!
