And this is the calm side of the ocean – apparently the swells on the Atlantic side were 6 meters. Even still it was pretty spectacular watching the storm line come through.
Whoo-ha! Fantastic … they remind me of standing on the bridge wings of a ship in stormy weather – the power, the glory, the grand and magnificent awesomness of the ocean. Nothing to beat it.
Always so sad for the people living on the flats, they always get a battering. Not so great here in Simons Town with mud slides down the mountain from the fires. The mountainside is unstable, and there is a worry of the rocks dislodging and crashing down. Think this is going to be a difficult winter.
Not the best weather but you’ve managed to get some great shots.
It was tricky, had to hang out of the window 🙂
Anything for the art 😉
Oh wow. Beautiful. Oh wow…
Thanks Rajiv. The storm had a mesmerising power; wreaked havoc though.
I can believe that
Hold fast!
Hang on! We had storms like this last weekend – complete with hail!
There’s some awesome power!

True, the ocean dishes up magnificence; but was happy to be well battened down with storm anchors well set 🙂
Some pictures of your storms did the rounds here in Gauteng as well, Liz. Scary stuff!

Nature’s certainly seems to packing a double-punch at the moment. Fires, droughts, floods – SA’s been through the ringer lately.
Right, it’s all very worrying – all this talk of climate change and finding a resilience imperative, when it’s happening here and now 😦
